Today, the Coalition for Public Safety addressed the tensions that are increasingly visible in cities across the country in the wake of tragic shootings, and called for measures to unify and heal the nation. The group, made up of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), Americans for Tax Reform, the Center for American Progress, the Faith and Freedom Coalition, FreedomWorks, the Leadership Conference Education Fund, the NAACP, and Right on Crime, has been working for more than a year to advance reforms that restore hope to communities and improve public safety, and pledged today to redouble its efforts at this critical moment.
